Bird collections in Lebanon - vultures and goldfinches as caged birds

A major problem in Lebanon is private collectors private collectors who cage captured or shot birds or run entire zoos and display the animals there, using them as an additional source of income.

Also widespread is the illegal songbird trapping, which are kept in small cages, similar to those in Spain or Greece, to perform their melodic song.


Large birds as status symbols

In particular, large migratory birds such as eagles, vultures, storks and pelicans that were shot and survived end up caged as pets or exhibits with private individuals, in bird collections or dubious Lebanese zoos.
