CABS Bird Protection Camp Timetable 2025

Together with our partner associations in Italy, Spain, France, Malta, Greece and Cyprus and Lebanon, CABS will conduct numerous campaigns and operations to protect the migratory flyways as best we can in 2025. The activities are almost exclusively financed by donations.

Please note that some of these dates may be subject to short-term change in relation to unforeseen circumstances. In addition, we won't reveal all the locations and exact dates - Italian and Maltese poachers also have internet access and of course browse our pages! We apologise for any inaccuracy in the information.

If you are interested in participating in our bird protection camps, you will need to meet some basic requirements - our selection criteria is outlined here.

12.04. – 04.05.2025	BIRD PROTECTION CAMP ON THE MEDITERRANEAN ISLAND OF ZAKYNTHOS (GREECE): Monitoring the spring hunting ban and actions against illegale shooting of turtle doves, golden orioles and birds of prey.
12.04. – 04.05.2025	THE "GRUPPO ADORNO" BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN THE STRAIT MESSINA (ITALY): Action against illegal shooting of birds of prey and bird trapping with nets.

July/August 2025	OPERATIONS AGAINST ILLEGAL BIRD TRAPPING IN SOUTHERN AND EASTERN SPAIN. Every weekend in July and August.
16.08. – 31.08.2025	SUMMER ACTION TO MONITOR WADING BIRD TRAPPING IN MALTA: Search for illegal wader trapping sites.
16.08. – 31.08.2025	SUMMER ACTION IN CALABRIA: Action against the illegal shooting of garden warblers and birds of prey at the Strait of Messina.
23.08. – 07.09.2025	SUMMER OUTREACH IN BRESCIA (ITALY): Search for traps and nets for pied flycatchers and common redstarts.
31.08. – 12.10.2025	AUTUMN BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN LEBANON: Safeguarding the migration routes of birds of prey, storks and other large birds. Monitoring and reporting illegal shooting and trapping. *
06.09. – 28.09.2025	BIG BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN MALTA AND GOZO: Action against the illegal shooting of birds of prey, search for electro-acoustic decoy callers.
06.09. – 23.10.2025	BIG BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN CYPRUS: Search for and dismantling of illegal limesticks and nets used for bird trapping, support of police and the Game & Fauna Service.
27.09. – 02.11.2025	BIG BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN NORTHERN ITALY: Collection of traps, nets and live decoy birds around Lake Garda and Lake Iseo, support of the police.
11.10. – 16.11.2025	BIRD PROTECTION CAMP TO MONITOR FINCH TRAPPING IN MALTA: Search for illegal trapping sites.
18.10. – 02.11.2025	AUTUMN BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN EASTERN SPAIN (VALENCIA AND CASTELLON): Search for limestick trapping installations and clap-nets for songbird trapping.
02.11. – 16.11.2025	AUTUMN BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN SOUTHERN SPAIN (ANDALUSIA): Search for mist- and clap-nets for songbird trapping
06.12. – 14.12.2025	ACTIONS AGAINST BIRD TRAPPING IN SARDINIA: Search for illegal trapping sites with snares
06.12. – 14.12.2025	MALTA GOLDEN PLOVER TRAPPING MONITORING OPERATIONS: Search for illegal trapping sites.
November/December 2025	SEVERAL MISSIONS TO MONITOR WATERFOWL HUNTING IMPODELTA/NORTH ITALY: The exact dates are not published for strategic reasons.
December 2025 - February 2026	THE WINTER BIRD PROTECTION CAMP IN CYPRUS starts on 07.12.2025 and will probably run until mid-February 2026.

* The Lebanon operations depend on the current political situation in the region.

Conditions of participation for interested parties:

In principle, all persons of legal age are potentially eligible to participate in the assignments listed above. Team spirit, readiness for action, physical fitness, knowledge of ecology and ornithology and sufficient knowledge of foreign languages (English or Italian) are expected. The Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) will cover the travel costs (petrol/tolls/ferry fees) and the costs for accommodation in simple bungalows or hotels on presentation of appropriate receipts. Participation without prior registration is not possible.
