Statistics of CABS bird protection camps in Cyprus
CABS have been working actively against bird poaching in Cyprus since 2001. With our bird protection camps in spring, autumn and winter we now cover the entire trapping season and do not give the bird trappers a moments peace. Each year, our volunteers and employed staff collect thousands of limesticks, hundreds of nets and help ensure the police convict as many poachers as possible. Here you will find all the results of our operations in Cyprus.
When interpreting the data, please note that in the years 2001 to 2007 we were only active in Cyprus for one week each year. From 2007 to 2011 it was two to three weeks, from 2012 to 2015 about 5 weeks and from 2016 at least 15 weeks.
The decline in the number of limesticks in spring from 2018 onwards is also striking. The number of poachers prosecuted shows that we had good cooperation with the police between 2012 and 2017. Since 2018 we have hardly had any police support, which is clearly reflected in the results.
