Lebanon: 125 nets removed from the Bekaa Valley – new video
08.10.2026

As part of an operation carried out by the Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) in collaboration with the Lebanese police and security forces, our teams took action in the Bekaa Valley against the illegal trapping of birds using nets. Around the town of Baalbek, three teams and several dozen heavily armed officers dismantled 125 nets with a total length of almost two kilometres and reported 11 people to the authorities.
One man was arrested for resisting the officers. During the operation, we freed 150 freshly caught birds from the nets, including barn swallows, nightingales, red-backed shrikes, masked shrikes, redstarts, spotted flycatchers and various species of warblers and reed warblers. Further joint operations with our team are already being planned.
You can find an impressive video of the operation on our instagram page here.
