Winter bird protection camp in Cyprus begins!
With the low temperatures taking hold across the continent, large flocks of northern thrushes are pushed towards the Mediterranean region. Song thrushes are a popular food in Cyprus, where they are widely shot legally and illegally lured using decoy callers and trapped mist-nets. Limesticks are also used in winter to catch robins and the last warblers. In order to monitor the situation and take action against illegal bird hunting and trapping, a CABS team is now active on the island until and we will report on initial results in the coming days.
