Winter anti-poaching operation in Sardinia.

The Committee Against Bird Slaughter (CABS) and our partner associations have been conducting several bird protection camps in Sardinia every year since 1995 to prevent bird trapping with nets and snares. Since then, poaching there has decreased noticeably. Trapping with 'horsehair snares' has largely come to a standstill as a result of our operations. Where we used to routinely find more than 22,000 snares, nowadays there are often fewer than 500. This February, we sent two teams to the island to carry out checks and convict bird catchers together with the responsible authorities.
