The EU Commission has filed another lawsuit against Malta.
The EU Commission has filed another lawsuit against Malta at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for violating the Birds Directive. The subject of the complaint is the authorisation of the capture of seven species of songbirds with collapsible nets in autumn. In order to circumvent the ruling, bird trapping was unceremoniously relabelled as a scientific activity by the government and thousands of bird trappers were appointed "bird researchers" overnight. CABS have repeatedly criticised the project.
