Summer campaigns start in Malta and Italy.
19.08.2024
Our three summer missions in the Mediterranean region are set to begin: in Malta, a CABS team will be busy searching for illegal trapping sites for waders. Migratory birds such as greenshank or little ringed plovers, which use Malta as a resting place during migration, are highly sought after by bird trappers. The forests and mountain slopes of northern Italy are also about to be combed by two CABS teams for traps and nets to used to catch pied flycatchers and redstarts. Small songbirds that make the arduous journey across the Alps are considered a delicacy south of the mountains and are trapped for consumption. Further south of Naples, three teams will also be active conducting field work against illegal bird hunting.
