Saving Swifts in Spain - 3000 birds rehabilitated.

CABS members and our friends at Save Our Swifts (SOS Vencejos) lodged 14 complaints with authorities across Spain this summer against demolition or renovation projects on buildings to protect established colonies of swifts and house martins. The projects were eventually postponed, and in addition, closed nesting sites are to be compensated for by nesting boxes and specially created openings. Almost 3,000 birds (around 90 % swifts), which left their nests prematurely due to high heat, were rescued, nursed and released by 50 bird conservationists throughout Spain. A big thank you to our amigos in Spain!
