First autumn action in Calabria completed.

Yesterday (27.08.) we finished the first mission of the 2nd half of the year in Calabria, southern Italy. The aim of the action was to combat the late summer hunting of garden warblers, which is still widespread here. The migratory birds are considered a delicacy because of the food they eat while migrating - sweet fruits. A CABS team, together with activists from its local partner association Gruppo Adorno, tracked down four poachers in gardens who were operating electric decoy callers with warbler and oriole songs. The Carabinieri (Italian Police), were immediately informed and were able to convict the perpetrators; 24 freshly shot garden warblers and a total of 18 hunting weapons were seized.
