Autumn bird protection camp begins in Brescia, Italy
This weekend our autumn bird protection camp starts between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo in the northern Italian province of Brescia. Until mid-November, around 40 volunteers from Italy, Great Britain, Switzerland and Germany will search for illegal bird traps, trapping nets or hunting areas and support the local authorities in their work. The focus will again be on working against the illegal use of bow traps and snaps traps, which are used by poachers to catch and kill robins and other songbirds. The birds are still considered a regional delicacy, although their sale and capture are strictly prohibited.
