Anti-poaching operation in Sardinia now complete.

For the past three weeks, a CABS team have been active in Sardinia searching for thrush trapping sites. Poachers here traditionally target songbirds with horsehair snares, which are placed in bushes and on the ground and strangle the birds - lured by native strawberry tree fruit. During our operation, 480 snares and one trap net were found. Two poachers were convicted by the police as a result of our field investigations - 49 plucked and frozen birds were also recovered during a house search.
