Huge bird trapping site shut down near Valencia
On Sunday, staff of the Committee led Spanish nature conservation officials (SEPRONA) to a huge bird trapping facility near Valencia. During the inspection, not only was an active ground net discovered, but also two enormous aviaries holding over 200 captive birds. The officials then cut holes in the side walls so that all the birds could be released immediately. Among the birds were 120 goldfinches and 50 chickadees, as well as siskins, greenfinches, several chaffinches, thrushes, turtle doves and red-legged partridges. During the subsequent search of the premises, dozens of glue rods and large quantities of glue were found and confiscated.
