Castellón - 6 bird trappers caught in eastern Spain
29.10.2024
Our bird protection camp on the east coast of Spain has now been running for over a week. While at the beginning of the operation we mainly found nets, in the last few nights we have also managed to shut down three huge trapping installations with limesticks. The police have seized around 1200 of the bird traps coated with glue - they are mainly used to catch song thrushes, redstarts and blackcaps. In addition to the limesticks, the Civil Guard's environmental unit (SEPRONA) has found eight set nets and 32 small net traps (known as ‘cesto malla’). Six poachers who have been caught so far and 18 freshly caught thrushes have been released! We’d like to thank SEPRONA for their proactive support and cooperation.
