Huntable bird species in Italy

A list of huntable bird species in Italy according to the provisions of Article 7 in combination with Annex II of the European bird protection guidelines (the Birds Directive. In some regions - especially North Italy - regional governments illegally permit the hunting of further bird species as shown below.

The hunting season runs from the 3rd Sunday in September to the 10th of February of the following year (originally until 31st January - extended in 2010). Some Italian regions have cut short the hunting season.
