Dortmund: CABS members find bird of prey traps
Police seize cage and steel trap on pigeon fancier’s property
Police remove traps in Dortmund-Barop on 07.02.2012Following a tip-off from a member of the public CABS members discovered a Goshawk cage trap and a steel trap in a suburb of Dortmund on 7 February 2012. Both illegal traps were immediately adjacent to a pigeon coop in an allotment garden. Numerous Goshawk and pigeon feathers were strewn around the traps and the conservationists found the leg of a Goshawk in the cage trap.
In order to catch the offender the two staff members of the CABS’ Bonn office kept watch on the traps in freezing temperatures under -12° C. The man did not appear and the police were called. They seized both traps and initiated criminal investigation.
